Job summary

The Technical Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering complex technical projects within scope, on time, and within budget. The position works closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, designers, QA, and other stakeholders, to ensure that project goals are aligned with business objectives and technical requirements.  Additionally, this position includes fulfilling the responsibilities of Scrum Master for the development team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record of delivering complex technical projects. They will possess a unique blend of technical expertise and project management skills, enabling them to bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resources, and budgets.
  • Lead the execution of projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate and facilitate communication between technical teams and stakeholders.

Team Management

  • Manage cross-functional teams, including software developers, designers, and QA, to ensure effective project execution.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and motivation to project teams.
  • Identify and resolve any team issues or conflicts that may arise during the project lifecycle.

Risk Management

  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Communicate risks, issues, and status updates to stakeholders regularly.

Technical Expertise

  • Understand and communicate technical requirements, challenges, and solutions.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear understanding and alignment.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to identify and resolve technical challenges during the project lifecycle.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that all project deliverables meet the required quality standards.
  • Oversee testing and validation processes to ensure that the final product meets user requirements.

Stakeholder Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Ensure that stakeholder expectations are managed and met throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and present project status reports, including progress, risks, and issues, to stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices in project management.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in project management methodologies.

Agile and Scrum

  • Serve as the Scrum Master, facilitating stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Maintain the focus of the development team by facilitating Agile practices and ensuring a clear understanding of the product goals.

Experience & requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, computer science, or a related technical field or equivalent work experience.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of technical project management experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience implementing Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex technical projects.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and project management tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent.
  • Experience in the software development industry.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
